Some MPs have let their constituents down, failing to represent them adequately. However, it's essential to recognise that most MPs work diligently for their residents and represent them to the best of their abilities. From my experience working with MPs across political parties, the best are those who read and answer their emails, attend local meetings to listen to people, and keep their feet on the ground, acknowledging they are not more important than anyone else.
I was inspired to create this video because someone asked me about my experience working for a major corporation. In reality, I have worked with many major corporations that have sought my advice through my business. I don’t believe that standing for Parliament requires one to have been a CEO, managing director of a corporation, a top city lawyer, or to have fought in a war. We need people with various experiences—individuals willing to get their hands dirty, listen, and seek advice from those running corporations, charities, or residents' associations.
This video outlines some of my experiences that will help me understand issues like disability, the NHS, running your own business, and fostering. I also have experience with business tax returns, working in defence, and being a parent. All of this contributes to being a grounded representative, but most importantly, I will listen to others with different experiences to ensure I always take an informed and balanced position.
