Marisa met the team at Royal Holloway this week to discuss how to develop the community engagement and ensure that the university and the residents of Englefield Green and Egham can find ways of working together to solve problems. With a group of residents and Ben Spencer MP, Marisa discussed parking and how we find a way of tackling foremost the parking on kerbs, in front of driveways and blocking roads. There was also a discussion around the universities new strategy which is being worked on and how to make community a central component of that strategy.
Marisa said:
"I am really pleased that, under the leadership of the new leadership of Professor Julie Sanders as principal at Royal Holloway, community engagement has risen in priority and I think we will see a fresh focus on getting this right. I stand ready to continue acting as the link between the residents and the university to foster solutions and act as a critical friend to the university in getting this right."
She add:
"We are really lucky to have such a fantastic institution in this village and I wholly support their efforts to drive education and be a leader, however I also support my residents in wanting to live in a tidy, peaceful village. I think we can achieve both with some joined up work."
