I believe in small Government and the importance of community and local people making the decisions in their areas. This is why I was so pleased to support the Net Zero Sunbury and Halliford initiative from my county colleague Buddhi Weerasinghe. This initiative is about the community working together to see what it can do locally to reduce its environmental impact and making sure that it focuses on the things that local people care about and can do.
Buddhi has run a survey to get resident’s views and you can hear more about it in this video. Regardless of net zero, we can problem solve by community collaboration and good leadership from local councillors so maybe this is an idea you can steal for your own area and your own initiative. I am sure Buddhi would be happy to share how he did it.
