At the last Surrey County Council Cabinet meeting, Marisa was pleased to introduce the new Climate Change Adaptation and Resilience Strategy which aims to address flooding, droughts, wildfires and the risk of disease across the county. The outline of the plan can be seen below but behind sits a detailed strategy and more work to come in setting out the plans to deal with the high priority areas.
Marisa stated at the cabinet meeting that:
"This adaptation strategy is absolutely crucial to have in place to protect residents, and in particular to deal with the growing threat of flooding across the county. Whether to not everyone believes in climate change relating to carbon reduction, we all know we are seeing changing weather patterns and it is having an impact on the way we live, work and move around Surrey. We have some really strong work coming from our flooding team already but this strategy will help us work in partnership more effectively and to be more clear on what investment is needed to address the issues. It will be a priority for our team at Surrey."
