The local plan for Mole Valley has been a work in progress for years now and frankly it has been a bit of a mess having sat for over a year with a real lack of homes provided and the green belt at risk.
I recognise it is highly challenging but I think an administration that has been in power for over 4 years should not be blaming others for its failings and should have show proper leadership over a year ago by taking out inappropriate sites and doing another review of better sites now that we are seeing changes in office and land use across the area.
What would I do differently?
I would have moved more decisively and whilst I know to provide needed housing some sensitive sites will need to come forward I would have pushed much harder for more brownfield and formerly developed land to be used. I will continue to support residents affected by this plan.
