Plans for Dorking & Horley

I am constantly working on outline plans for the key issues across Dorking & Horley. I have outlined some of the issues I want to focus on below but I am currently spending the next couple of months knocking on doors, running surveys and finding out what matters to you and what you want me to think about. I will always put action over empty words.

  • Building Homes

Mole Valley has one of the oldest Local Plans in the country and is also one of the worst constituencies for delivering affordable housing. This has led to a problem finding key workers for care services, the NHS and many municipal roles in the area.
  • Supporting Local Business

I have run a small business and it was challenging enough running it from home but then when we need an industrial unit to produce the goods it became a lot more difficult as the bills were huge.
  • Flooding and Sewage

The Conservative introduced the monitoring that has enabled us to measure and recognise the issues with sewage.
  • Roads and Transport

Roads funding is set with a national formula which currently pays per mile of road. This is madness because one length of road in a rural part of Yorkshire will be very different to the same length of road in Surrey.
  • Protecting our Nation

I used to work in defence in 2006 and as part of a team we sought to get increased Government funding because we recognised the future threat from Russia in particular but also an increasingly unstable world.
  • Delivering on Democracy

There has been a breakdown in our democracy. it started a long time ago when Tony Blair lied to us about the reasons to go to war in Iraq and it has gradually got worse.
